Not Dead Yet!

Ye gods, it's been a long time since I last posted...

Mostly that's been because of school and work...

but also because I have nothing really worthwhile to say...

Maybe I'll find something.

Just bouncin' around my head

During winter vacation, a plot bunny bit me and has been bouncing around in my head since. I'll be taking notes in class and then just absentmindedly start sketching one of the characters. Not well, mind you, but still I see everyone capering around. I might just as well start writing this--maybe the bunny will leave me alone. Or maybe I don't want it to leave me alone. If I fleshed this out would anyone be interested in reading?

It starts in a world like ours, but not. The inhabitants of this world are humans, but they are different from you and me. These people have the ability to form connections--bonds, they're called--with each other. There are many different types of bonds, from brotherbonds (between good friends), to familybonds (between parent and child), and even the elusive heartbond--which is when two people's hearts seem to be in sync with each other. In our world we would call this "soulmates" or something similar. Our protagonists are two twins, a rarity in this world. Very rarely have there been any twins born on this world and our two are marveled at as a curiosity and revered as a gift from the heavens. Their family is a group of performers who live just outside the city limits of the capital. Since twins are a rarity, people do not realize that the two are not only bonded to their parents. They are also bound to each other--not in a romantic way, but almost as if they share their own soul. They can communicate with each other and each knows what the other is feeling. Their parents are busy, but love them dearly. However there is another presence who they cherish and think of as family. It is a monster. The twins have not always seen the monster. It appeared one day, scaring both of them. It had a raspy voice and its skin glinted in the dim light--an unnatural color. Its hair was lank and greasy and as it stretched out its left hand, wicked metal claws built for destruction gleamed dangerously. The twins screamed in fear and their parents came. However only the twins could see the monster. And the monster wouldn't go away.
And so begins the story of "The Twins and the Monster"

In other news, I just saw Rent and am in love with most of the music.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Attention all: the blizzard has hit and the snowblower's broken. Joy. I'm not looking forward to being snowed into my home tomorrow. The boss is determined to get to work and since she's my ride...well, I can't really say no.
It's not as bad as it could be (last winter was...*shudder*) but it still is a ton of snow. I'm still enjoying the look of absolute panic that crosses my parents' faces as I ask if I can drive. They don't seem to get that I'm just kidding. I'll need lots of practice in a parking lot or on an old country road before I'm even ready to get on the (poorly plowed) interstate. Heck, I got near panic attacks when I went on the interstate in summer! So yes, no winter driving yet for the peeka_cat. ^_^;;
The snow looks lovely though. I may try to snap a few shots before I go back to the campus on Sun.

Meme Love!

So usually my trying to write ends up in tears, but when I saw this in [info]stopthatgirl7's post, I decided to give it a go.

I haven't touched Tokyo Mew Mew in years, but it's my first manga and near and dear to my heart so, typing away!

The rules are simple:
1. Write down the names of ten characters.
2. Write a fic of fifteen words or more for every prompt, using the characters determined by the numbers. Do not read the prompts before you do step one.

1. Ichigo
2. Mint
3. Pudding
4. Kish
5. Lettuce
6. Masaya
7. Zakuro
8. Ryo
9. Keiichiro
10. Deep Blue

Mew Mews...attack!! )
So, criticism please?

Ah, home

Yes. I have been home for a little over 24 hours and have already been yelled at to stop running in the house, baked two batches of cookies, was told to do the laundry, and won a tickle war with my adorable little sister. Life is good. My Japanese exam should arrive in the mail any day now, and I'm fully expecting to pass with a 90 or higher. Also, my dad made some of the most delicious cabbage stew in the world for my homecoming dinner and I managed to take Ozzie, my room mate's fish, home inside my coat and he didn't freeze to death(it was about 12 degrees F out, that day)! I also have rediscovered my family's netflix account and have gotten all of Firefly to be delivered while I reside at home. And there's a party tomorrow night. It's going to be a blast!
I am very happy and I hope all of you out there reading this are very happy as well.

Happy Holidays!

Nanowrimo

Yeah, you've got to be pretty insane to take on a 50,000 word novel plus 3 5-8 page papers, but I'm doing it! And it's going well.

Turkey Day is almost here, and so I can't wait to get home. I miss my fluffy cats so much.

Blargle, school...

Yes. That is my brain right now. I've just had to write lots of essays in about half a week (all were over five pages) and then I realize, hey! That assignment I thought was due two weeks from now? It's due on Monday. GAAAAH. College make my head stop hurting, or at least don't assign a whole ton of research papers at once! I still have more to do, plus Girl Scout cookies are coming in and I have to deliver to all. *sobs*
And my dad is getting on my case because I don't really know the teachers who are teaching the classes I signed up for. He wants me to sit through one of their classes. I would, but finals are coming up, work is piling down on me and I. DON'T. HAVE. THE. TIME. I love my dad a lot, and it hurts when we argue but I absolutely cannot stand him telling me what to do even when I've moved out of the house. I know he's trying to keep me from making the same mistakes he made, but I know it is good information and should do it but there is. No. TIME. to do so. And he won't listen to me say that.

On the positive note, I just sent my little sister a post card. She's been complaining that I don't write to her often and she misses me. She even sent some pretty Japanese post cards in my last care package along with stamps. So I decided to send her a postcard...all in Japanese. I cannot wait to see her response. ....I'm so mischievous. ^_^

Today was...

Today I decided to be healthy. I decided to go to Pizza Hut for dinner. Healthy? you ask incredulously. I kid you not, seeing as instead of ordering for delivery, I and a couple of friends (okay, 7 others) WALKED to the nearest Pizza Hut...3 1/2 miles away. I am very proud of myself for managing to walk without freezing and not totally freaking out when we had to walk back in the dark in unfamiliar territory. I love those people who put up with me. :)

She lives!

So I have started school. While it is fun, it's also a ton of work, which is why I haven't written so much lately. Also my beautiful laptop, Lady Red, has been giving me a bit of trouble, freezing up and somehow managing to not only lose the cover for the 'h' key, but completely breaking off the nub that stands under the cover. This means I'll probably have to get a new keyboard. Joy. On the brighter side, I have made a ton of friends and they have introduced me to Doctor Who and Torchwood. ^_^ I'm in love.

I have discovered...

That getting in touch with old family members that you haven't seen for 2 years is wonderful. Plus she's sending me cookies! I'm starting college on Sat, so wish me luck! I still have to pack a whole ton!

You Know What They Say About Fish and Houseguests....

GAH. Having family over for the weekend is driving me insane. It's supposed to be the younger sister's week so WHY IS EVERYONE TALKING TO ME???!!! They've been hanging around for about three days already and I've almost snapped. And what is it with taking my personal laptop and using it to check airplane flight times. ...couldn't you ask more politely?? And I swear, if a certain someone keeps on harping about what I plan to major in, I. Will. Snap. I also need some alone time. You know, that wonderous thing called privacy?

....Fish and Houseguests Stink In Three Days. What happens on the fourth?

Chicago~!

Oh, I just love Chicago. The lights, the stores, the customer service, Chinatown, the restaurants, practically everything. I really enjoy my visits, and this visit was one of the best yet. I got my hair cut by a professional (it's adorable!) and then I went to Macy's and got a free makeover. I don't usually wear makeup, but after the sales rep had gotten done with me I looked AWESOME. Then we went to Reza's. If anyone goes there, and likes meat, try the Shishleek with dill rice. Both are to die for. I had a great time in Chicago and  I'm still floating from my experience!

Bleg

So I was driving home from work and I was fine. Best out of all my driving experiences, I think. And then as soon as I get home, out of nowhere BAM! I get nauseous. Not so bad that I'm throwing up, but enough to cancel my plans for cooking dinner for the family and make me go relax (read: lay miserably) in bed. The slightest whiff of food (or even the mention) makes me feel worse. Darn it! I was going to make gyudon tonight!

Hope I'm better by tomorrow. The computers at work were down (or at least the program I needed was) so I have a ton of work to make up tomorrow.

Fare thee well, Readers!

My Boss is AWESOME

So for the past 5 or so years, I've been drooling over Wacom tablets. Now I am drooling even more, but there is an upside! I told my boss that I would probably need a tablet to create a graphic for the website I'm maintaining and SHE GOT ONE FOR ME!! Granted, it's just temporary, but I am in tablet heaven. Ciao! I'm going to "practice" some more with the tablet!

Transformers!

I have just seen the first Transformers movie. It is awesome--if only for the transforming cars and big explosions. I had a ton of fun watching it, especially with the little sis who was the one who introduced me to Transformers on Saturday mornings. I only wish I had seen it on the big screen. I guess I'll just have to go see the second one. ^_^

August Rush

...I...I think I'm in love. I just saw the movie August Rush and I had a blast watching it...or at least the other people in the room did. Maybe it had to do with my sister and I gesturing like lunatics at the TV every five minutes because this was a LITTLE KID making DANGEROUS DECISIONS AND HOW COULD YOU DO SOMETHING SO STUPID, EVAN? I swear, half the time the other watchers were watching us and totally ignoring the movie. Despite the twisted sister act that it invoked, I truly adore this movie and I think the little sis did as well. Well, off to bed now!

Watch out!

Watch out, World! I have finally become legally authorized to drive a car!! Of course, this has been long coming. -_-;; A mixture of overprotective parents and the fear of running over one of my many (stupid, but sweet) kittens has been keeping me back, but no more! *evil laughter* Stay off the sideways, guys! I'm going for a spin!

*click*

Yes! I finally got a decent camera! My brand new Nikon D-40 is my beautiful baby who I love and adore. (I'm sure the people outside the camera store were weirded out by the lady cooing over her camera and calling it baby names) It's picture time!

It is done...

...the graduation party is done, the gifts are tallied up. All I need to do is write thank you notes and I'll be free! ...until I start work on Monday. I'm not quite sure how my freedom evens out, but I'm glad to be done with school for now. All my cakes and cookies were a success and we had a bonfire! This is one happy Peek-chan. Now it is time for bed. Goodnight all!
